Palinodie is a contemporary theater company founded in Aosta in 2012 and co-directed by Stefania Tagliaferri, a director who graduated from Paolo Grassi, and Verdiana Vono, a dramaturg trained at Ert - Emilia Romagna Teatro.

In addition to the production of the shows, Palinodie flanks programming actions with the intention of nurturing theatrical discourse and territorial development, such as the review Prove Generali - The theater goes to the mountains (in Morgex from 2017) and the Festival Aosta Città Diffusa (from 2021), collaborating with the main public institutions in Valle d'Aosta and with private entities, including Fondazione Natalino Sapegno and Compagnia di San Paolo.

Manifesto
Palinodie thinks and makes resident, resilient contemporary theater. Through performances, workshops and festivals, it generates cultural and social value, promoting ethical and sustainable innovation in cultural processes. Its approach integrates artisticity, human sustainability, cultural accessibility, gender equity and systemic ecology, building a theater capable of dialoguing with the present and its fractures.
Palinodie believes that contemporary theater and new dramaturgy can hold together the sacredness of the ancient and the anxieties of the present, transforming our beliefs and opening up new visions. His creations address the major themes of our time: the climate crisis, the evolution of emotional relationships free of gender stereotypes, the relationship between human beings and nature. Narration and transformation. A poetic and radical language, outside any ideology, to give voice to the instances of change in society.
Rooted in the Aosta Valley, Palinodie has been working for more than a decade between cities and valleys, creating connections between communities, artists and territories. The mountains are its starting point for looking far and taking its theatrical language to new geographies. In a mountain and frontier context, theater becomes a tool for discovery, reflection and transformation.
Site-specific works enhance the material and intangible heritage of places, interweaving contemporary narrative, traditions and memories. Theater leaves conventional spaces to encounter urban and natural landscapes, creating immersive and collective experiences.
History
Palinodie was born in 2012 in Aosta, when Stefania Tagliaferri, together with a young theater collective, gave birth to a company devoted to innovation and experimentation. The first production, diStanze virtuali, won an under25 competition organized by the Cittadella dei Giovani of Aosta and revolves around the themes of intimate life in virtual space, chatrooms come to life on stage sinking the protagonists into an abyss of isolation and loneliness.
In 2014, the meeting with Verdiana Vono, author, opens the horizon of contemporary dramaturgy. Hence the first shows Women Who Want to Marry. Maybe, Ballad to Shakespeare, Apnea. The Youngest of Fates, Bian o The Theory of Jars and Dreaming Folk, garner critical and audience acclaim. Thanks to Funder35's national call for proposals, which supports the most promising cultural realities, Palinodie begins to circulate its productions in Italy and abroad, also thanks to its presence in reviews and festivals and by participating in awards and competitions.
In 2017, Prove Generali #0 - theater goes to the mountains debuted in Morgex (AO), the first of a festival that has now reached its seventh edition and puts new independent writing in dialogue with the Alpine territory. Since 2018, Palinodie has been curating, together with the Natalino Sapegno Foundation, the Morgex Reading Park, a playful-educational path on classics for children.
Poetics
Palinodie comes from the Greek πάλιν (again) and ᾠδή (singing). For us, it means to sing again, to write and rewrite the present as it happens; it is a concept that carries with it the freedom to change one's mind. Claiming transformation as an integral part of the artistic journey. It is the feeling by which the deepest being demands and welcomes biological, poetic and political change. It is a signal for attention, presence, the present.
We believe in a theater that welcomes human frailty, without pretense of healing or therapy: a space of continuous practice where we take care of ourselves and others through the stage. Our work comes from silence and concentration, because only in an atmosphere of deep listening can authentic and shared visions emerge. Here, diverse people - in age, interests and background - recognize themselves in a universal self, suspended between fragility and strength, and together overcome generational and social barriers.
Areas of research
Palinodie was born from a strong desire for permanence and restance. It is a theatrical project that has chosen the Aosta Valley as a place of roots, but that looks far and into the future.
It is not content with a simple change of perspective, but wants to generate a transformation, an ongoing presence, involving and promoting the work of directors and artists of the contemporary scene.
It is a way of existing and experiencing an area as artists, creating a recognized and stable theater center over time, a reference point for audiences and performing arts.
Leaving and staying are the two poles of human history. The right to migrate corresponds to the right to stay, building another sense of places and of oneself. Restanza means feeling anchored and at the same time bewildered in a place to be protected and at the same time radically regenerated. From La restanza by Vito Teti
Mission
After more than ten years of activity, Palinodie continues to chart its own course with consistency and openness, welcoming new influences without losing its own identity.
It is a collective that accepts the changing rhythms of artistic creation, alternating phases of intense activity with moments of waiting, fostering dialogue between professionals and non-professionals, and interweaving seemingly opposing languages to generate new expressive possibilities.
New dramaturgy thus becomes an engine of transformation, accelerating the creative process without changing its essence: at the end of each cycle of regeneration, Palinodie's artistic identity remains solid and recognizable.
